During the dark period in our history, women were confined only in the four corners of their home - to serve the needs of their husband and children. Their knowledge and skills were limited to household chores. They have no right to enroll in an educational institution of higher learning. Frustrated by the fate of women - on December 1888, twenty (20) women from Malolos petitioned Governor General Wyler for a permission to open a night school so that they can study Spanish language.
Spanish priest Fr. Felipe Garcia objected, their petition was turned down -- but the women bravely pursued their dream defying friar's objection, until they finally obtained the government's approval, an attitude unheard of during those days.
Why
spend on monthly payment for internet service providers, hire digital
artists and media planners for your advocacy campaign, promotional and
marketing needs when you can do it for FREE in the cyber space and even
earn from it by registering the social media site you shall design via PAYPAL by placing the Ads being promoted by Google's ADSENSE. You can set up your communication
system by registering an email account at gmail.com for your emails and
group mailing needs then design and develop a social media site for your association/organization at Google's blogspot.com.

And what are the advantages of the Cyber Marketing scheme we are talking
about?
Aside from undetermined numbers of e-magazine promotions sent to
individual e-mail addresses and group mail accounts of our members as sales and
marketing
agents, we can determine the actual number of
viewers who viewed our promotional material worldwide! This does not include other sites
of our members and email messages they are sending including the links posted in facebook accounts and in other social media site. Imagine the extent of promotional exposure your donor/sponsor can enjoy.

See this simple e-magazine style email message, which you will learn to construct :

Bird strike at Ninoy Aquino International Airport
(NAIA) does not only poses an imminent danger to
the safety of airlines and its passengers, but also a threat to our country’s economy as well. We may never earn an
upgrade of our aviation safety classification from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to boost
our tourism industry and increase commercial activities in the metropolis and
parts of central Luzon, because of such issue, other than the modernization of our airports.

Lately, there
was tremendous increase of bird strikes at NAIA. There were 49 bird strike recorded
by CAAP from January to September, compared to 30 bird strikes in 2011 and 25
in 2010, which makes the makes the danger more imminent. Thus, NAIA was prompted to issue a warning to
the pilots of the danger to land and take off at NAIA.

It was reported that a Philippine Airlines (PAL)
Flight PR 124 to Manila
was canceled last September after birds got sucked into the plane’s engine in order to
ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Cebu Pacific's Cotabato-Manila flight was
delayed for more than four hours also in the same month. Earlier
in July, it was reported that PAL flight PR 105 that just
arrived in Manila from Guam
in also suffered from the same incident and the aircraft’s entire set of
fan
blades had to be replaced due to irreparable damage. It was reported by
TV 5 News that from January to July this year, 39 bird strikes have been
reported at
the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), 50 percent more than the
same period last year, data from the Manila International Airport
Authority (MIAA) indicated. These incidents involve aircraft of
Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, Cathay Pacific, Jet
Star Asia, Air Philippines Express, and Qatar Airways.
Indefinite suspension of licenses to operate manning agencies pending litigation of a case is endangering the maritime industry to the detriment of the Philippine economy!

This is what happened to the 300 seafarers of Gyron Crew Incorporation and Manning Agency (GCIMA).
A complaint was filed by three former recruits of GCIMA leading to the suspension of its license to operate. Consequently, the contract of 300 seafarers due to be deployed to Netherlands were put on hold, many of whom were about to leave the country. Meanwhile, the case remains pending for more than sixty (60) days, while it was reported that a new law was passed in Holland allegedly banning Filipino seafarers.

Despite previous withdrawal of the complaint by two of the complainants, while the other one already left the country, the case still remains pending litigation for more than two months, alleged Bosun Jeric Bilbao, representing the seafarers. Atty. Jesus Gabriel "Jeriel" Domingo, OIC, Adjudication Office, POEA, replied: “our hands are tied by the law . . . we must observe the requirement of due process”, when confronted by the seafarers, during the Balitaan sa Aloha media forum on October 10, 2012. However, the case has not yet been resolved to date. On the other hand, millions of pesos due to the seafarers and the government were already lost.

This is a dangerous precedent!

Millions of pesos in dollar remittances were lost! Millions due to the government as taxes, hundreds starved, some of their dependents quit school while some of their properties were already due for foreclosure because of POEA’s Order suspending the processing of documents by Gyron Crew Incorporation and Manning Agency of seafarers who were about to be deployed to Holland.

Despite withdrawal of complaint filed by three (3) complainants hired by another manning agency receiving salary lower than what they were receiving from Gyron Crew Incorporation Manning Agency, two of whom already withdrawn the complaint while the other already left the country, the Order has not yet been lifted by the POEA, said Bosun Jeric Bilbao, representing the 300 seaferers. In fact, many of them were already due for deployment even before the Order was issued, Bilbao added.

On the other hand, seafarers who should have already been deployed to Holland now faces a dilemma because of a recent law passed limiting employment of Filipino Seafarers to Holland, said Rodolfo Ca Chila, another seafarer. Thus, denying them and their families of the income which they were supposedly already enjoying.

Six-months of caring from the moment we discovered that she was already suffering from the disease at its final stage. I
was able to kiss her in the forehead and whispered to her ears: “you have to
rest now”. Its time to say goodbye. It was the last time I kissed my Mother. It was an agonizing experience, which I hope
others shall not suffer, especially the children. For those who survived, we hope that they are being taken care of by their love ones celebrating life by letting their voices be heard.
It is likewise of public knowledge that Gen. Mateo Noriel Luga is one of the most unsung national hero in Philippine history by the National Historical Institute. Mala Jean Luga was very persistent that we decided launch an advocacy movement in this regard.

It is ironic that a person with such a colorful life as a hero, who earned much respect and esteem by the mightiest army in this world, the United States Armed Forces, during the Fil-Am War because of his conviction to honorable warfare despite inferiority in armaments and forces, was not given due recognition by this nation and his countrymen. Little is known about his family, brothers, sister. The succeeding generations of this martyr is not even aware of their roots, when or where he was born and was actually buried. Most of his children were named after prominent national heroes: Jose, after Dr. Jose Rizal; Emilio, after Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo; Maria and Pilar, a prominent name of an ideal Filipina. This is how nationalistic the great warrior was that he wanted his children to follow his ideals, without them knowing about it.

In is ironic! He was not given due recognition! This is an injustice! An insult to a martyr who fought dearly for the freedom we now enjoy! His family was made hostage to weaken his resolve, yet he stood firm, rescued his love ones and fought back an honorable warfare that earned the respect and admiration of the world's mightiest army. It is this resolve that motivated and drives us to seek for answers to question that haunts us for generations.

It was then that we started the Ibanag Cyber Revolution Project to advocate for the due recognition of Gen. The ALIMOKON CYBER PROJECT begun and it paid off for we have been united in this resolve!

During the Independence Day of 2009, Gen. Mateo Luga's residence, we featured the host of the 75th Death Anniversary of Gen. Mateo Noriel Luga: "The Grand Reunion of the Luga Clan" at its very root: "Tumauini, Isabela". Father Angel Luga was then the Parish Priest of Cauyan, Isabela. A native of Ugad, Tumanuini in Isabela, he was born on November 9, 1948 of parents Rosario Baquiran and Diego Luga, the son of Domingo Luga, whose brother was General Mateo Noriel Luga, an Ibanag national Hero.

Despite hardship in life, Angel strived hard to finish a degree. He attended primary and secondary education at Ugad Elementary School and the School of St. Mathias in Tumanuini, Isabela, respectively, until he finished a degree in Theology at St. Paul University in Tuguegarao, Cagayan in 1971. He continued his Tehological studies at the Immaculate Conception School of Theology and later earned a Masteral Degree at Isabela State University in Echague Isabela and his Doctoral Degree at La Salette University in Santiago City, Isabela. LEARN MORE ABOUT HIM . . .

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486116083798442813.post-42633324619906952602011-11-05T15:53:00.000-07:002011-11-05T16:30:17.874-07:00Meeting with Col. Mateo Luga's residence in Fairview, Quezon City when Father Angel Luga with brother Tony Luga, (whose Great Grandfather, Domingo, is the brother of General Mateo Noriel Luga), arrived. Father Luga is the Parish Priest in Cauyan, Isabela. He and Tony were the known Lugas left in Tumauini, Isabela. Other siblings of Domingo settled in Tuguegarrao, Ilocos and Cagayan Provinces. It was told that General Mateo Noriel Luga and his brother Domingo was actually from the Province of Ilocos, who migrated to Tumauini, Isabela. When the Filipino Spanish War erupted Mateo Luga with his two cousins, Manalo and Gregorio, joined the forces of Gen. Aguinaldo. They are, however, the original organizers and members of the secretive "Katipunan", in Tumauini. They left Isabela secretly to join the Katipunan. Nobody knew of their whereabouts. They are, in the eyes of the Spaniards - "Insurrectos"! To us, however, they are - HEROES!

After Andres Bonifacio's death, they joined the forces of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, until General Mateo Noriel Luga was appointed by General Aguinaldo as the Philippine Revolutionary's war adviser to the Cebu Revolutionary Government.

The meeting was a reunion of sort between Roy R. Luga, the grandson of Emilio, Sr., Mala Jean, the daughter Col. Mateo Luga, and those from Isabela. The Grand Reunion of the Luga Clan shall be held in Tumauini, the birthplace of Gen. Mateo Noriel Luga. Fr. Angel Luga volunteered to host the event. In the meantime, 5o pieces of the CDs of General Mateo Noriel Luga's documentary, which was produced by Col Mateo Luga were pledged to be reproduced for distribution, a parallel project to produce a documentary in Tumanuini, Isabela, shall be partly sponsored by Father Angel Luga. The advocacy for to commemorate the 75th Death Anniversary of Gen. Mateo Noriel Luga and to advocate for his life and times among the Luga Clan has just begun! The beginning of our saga . . . "THE ROAD TO TUMAUINI".

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5486116083798442813.post-14006608170365394872011-10-17T05:30:00.001-07:002011-12-20T09:49:49.006-08:00LEO LUGA ZITA
Leo Luga Zita has been a musician for almost three decades.

It's been quite a while since we have not published a post in our site. Before Myrle De Jesus Bowden went home to Australia, a hastily called reunion compliment of Col. Mateo Luga was organized in honor of Myrle at Kabisera Filipino in Rockwell at Makati. Among those present were the offspring of Jose Valdez Luga and Leanor Ledesma Hojilla, headed by Tito Mat with Tita Lita and daughter Mala. Vida, Tanya, Leslie and Brad Luga Sison Gabe, grandchildren of Ruth Luga and Carlos Sison, Sr., were also present with Marissa De Jesus, Myrle's sister-in-law. Also around were husband and wife Mike Ocampo and Emmy Luga with their children, Emmy is the daughter of Tita Exing and Tito Manuel Luga, brother of Tito Mat. The offspring of Emilio Luga Sr. and Beatriz Somoza was represented by Ate Beth, the wife of Gen. Alan Luga, with their children.

For Myrle who we have not seen for quite a while . . . for twenty years? Cheers!

Fr. Angel Baquiran Luga’s Isabela Awaits You Project awakened not only national consciousness, but it has also ignited the bond among the tribal communities in Isabela fortified and cemented by their faith. What was once a simple project merely to awaken the hearts and minds of a family to rekindle their past, touched the spirit of the different tribal cultural minorities in Cagayan Valley, the Gaddang, Ibanag, Yogad, Agta, Itawis, Ivatan, to be proud of their roots to honor the return of one of their child long forgotten by history. His symbolic return turned into a festivity that ignited the bond of Filipino culture: Love of God, Family, Country and Honor. No less than the National Historical Institute acknowledges that Mateo Noriel Luga, the only known tribal leader in Philippine History who rose from the rank of the Philippine Revolutionary Government to become a general during the Filipino-Spanish and the Filipino-American Revolt, may have been the most unsung hero in Philippine History. Sadly, he died a poor man on his way home to his beloved land. He never made it back to the place where he started his own little war. His journey to carry on his resolve to fight for the freedom of his people from Cagayan Valley went further to distant shores and reached its peak leading men in combat to send a fleet of the world’s mightiest army running away from battle in a land foreign from his culture in the company of people not of his own. Despite his family being made a shield to weaken his morale, he rescued his loved ones in enemy’s lair and fought back an honorable war that earned the respect and admiration not of Filipino historians, but his fiercest enemy, the American Expeditionary Forces in the island of Cebu. He lived honorably in peace as farmer thereafter with his family by his side and stood by his nationalistic ideals. He died a poor man in unknown tomb never realizing his dream to return to the beloved land where he started his own little war: Cagayan Valley . Isabela Awaits You is a continuing saga of the revolution that this man started , now turned into an advocacy that touches our soul, hearts and minds as Filipinos.

In its first expeditionary mission to rally for the symbolic return this Ibanag Revolutionary, Fr. Angel Luga started his own revolt: ”The Ibanag Cyber Revolution Has Begun” followed by ”Isabela Awaits You Part I”. It did not stopped from there, it was followed by Isabela Awaits You Part II”. Then followed by Isabela Awaits You Part III: One Barangay, One Chapel, One Community, One Church Project”, where Fr. Angel Baquiran Luga advocated to build a Chapel in every Barangay in Cauayan City, turns out into churches in each Barangay. The ”The 75th Death Anniversary of Gen. Mateo Noriel Luga: The Return of the Tribal Warriors” may have put closure to fulfill the wish of this forgotten warrior. It, however, commenced an advocacy that touches the hearts and minds of many that continues to linger beyond the shores among Filipinos . . .

On June 18, 2011 Fr. Angel Baquiran Luga, who is now the newly installed Parish Priest of St. Matthias Church in Tumauini shall produce another missionary work, right at the place where it all started: “Isabela Awaits You Part IV: “THE JEWEL OF THE VALLEY”. A true Filipino without any desire for self interest, but to secure and promote the freedom we already attained.

As I retrace history, I do not know if it was incidental or Divine to be at places in the wrong time or wrong time at the right place with the right? Or, wrong people? Decision makers, the silent operators or the people behind that changes the course of history. Whichever it may lead, history must be written for the next generation to live by, for the ideals that people in the past stood by, in the hope for others to understand what really transpired and how it happened. Without history . . . we do not know why we are following a path where we are leading to. For many . . . pana-panahon lang po - but for some, it has been the path long laid even before others set in. Our advocacy shall continue . . . because the ideals was already there even before our coming.

The problem with our governance is continuity, picking the bits and pieces is hard, especially if politics sets in whenever change of administration takes place. Well, there are those who remains regardless of changes, conflict or war . . .

“THE 1986/1989 COUP”
IN HONOR OF THE TWO SENIOR SURVIVING LUGA OF THE AFP

GEN. The rising cost of fuel , goods, commodities and tuition fees sparked student unrest. Student leaders of West Negros College were in the forefront of boycotts, rallies and long marches to protest government anti-poor policies and human rights atrocities. Different NGOs and political party espousing nationwide solution to the political turmoil besetting our country begun to emerge. The sustained mass action forced then President Ferdinand E. Marcos to call a snap election in 1986, which resulted to series of event history foretold.

Sometime in February 1986, many NGOs helped organized the National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), former student leaders and nationalistic individuals joined the organization in the hope of protecting the ballots for the sentiment of the people to be truly heard. The walk-out by NAMFREL personnel manning the computers for its operation quick count at PICC caused a major scandal that put in question the true winner of the snap presidential poll.
